The games of The Witcher always got me to a kind of love-hate relationship. I really liked the world of magic and monsters but I always thought the gameplay was a pain in the butt. So after being through with GTA V my husband and me were looking for a new game – it was Summer 2015 – and then I remembered “Hey, didn’t The Witcher 3 come out just recently?”
So it turned out that the Witcher 3 is among the best games I’ve ever played. Naturally I had to cosplay a character and Ciri was number one when it came to my favourite female character with a great design!

Making of
I started this cosplay in late December 2015 with getting all the materials, I bought some at a local store or ordered online. I got the costume wearable for a test run on “Faschingsdienstag” on the 9th of February 2016. I then finished the whole costume by the 6th of March, which was the entry deadline for the cosplay contest at Comic Con Austria 2016.
This was the most diverse costume I’ve made so far, it required various techniques at sewing and crafting alike. The cotton blouse with the golden stripe, the corset with absolutely no hint where to open it, the pleather pants, the pleather boots and the gloves were all very different. And then there was the black leather belt with the pattern I had to burn into the leather. I even managed to burn my finger because I unplugged the wrong cable and the solderin iron was still heating! Then on the other hand the crafting part was also very interesting. The silver belt was made out of crafting foam and Worbla’s Finest Art with gems out of Worbla’s Transpa Art painted with vitreous colors. Ciri’s sword was actually my first prop and I think, I could have done better. The blade is really bumpy due to the lack of sanding experience with a dremel on EVA foam. For additional stability I covered everything with Worbla’s Finest Art. The handle was covered with fake snake leather. I then covered the blade loosely with crafting foam the make the sheath. It was also covered with Worbla’s Finest Art and then with red pleather on which I sewed the pattern. One of the craziest things were the cat medallion which I sculpted out of Apoxie Sculpt and the buckles which I also made myself out of Worbla’s Finest Art. The wig was also trimmed and styled by me.
